The Pines (songs I write when I should be doing homework)
i met you in the pines
you were howling at the moon
with branches for a spine
you bent the way the wind blew
i was smitten with your mind
and the way that your hands moved
i lost all track of time
and didn’t know when the night was throughyou took me to the stream
and waded in real slow
i listened to your dream
where you moved away from home
we burrowed in the leaves
and kept our voices low
didn’t want to see
that you were afraid to goi wish you’d pack your bags
and come away with me
your roots are settled deep
in a forest of dying trees -
because i have been awful at doing any covers lately, i decided to put some real effort into this one.
